Strategic & Crisis Communications Support

For the last 14 years, I have worked across public education, political campaigns, community organizing, and government helping others tell their stories, get organized, and create meaningful change in their communities.

As press secretary of New York City Public Schools, I led the external communications strategy, media relations, and social media work for the nation’s largest public school system – serving over a million students and staff in over 1,600 schools. This work included:

  • Building relationships and securing coverage with the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC, The Atlantic, The New Yorker, and local and community media;
  • Preparing senior leadership for public oversight hearings at the city, state, and national level - including a high-profile congressional hearing;
  • Creating multi-channel communication plans for signature policy rollouts on literacy, dyslexia, school safety, artificial intelligence and other complex issues;
  • Overseeing ongoing crisis communications related to reputation protection, school safety, weather, and the daily operation of 1,600 public schools;
  • Managing a 7-member press office, 3-member social media team, and coordinated executive communications for senior leadership, including writing speeches and talking points.

Born, raised, and educated in Michigan, I have worked in New Orleans, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New York City. I have a passion for learning the unique intricacies of local political contexts, and I take pride in putting comprehensive engagement with the issues at hand above quick and easy solutions.

I bring a empathetic approach to working with people who are the focus of media coverage or are seeking a spotlight on their work. At the end of the day, I want you to know that I have your back.
